I’m looking at an ancient agricultural vehicle. Trundling along, probably slowly, towards who knows where. What I can make out of the surroundings are dusty, blurry and distant. The tractor type thing seems to be loaded up with bits of old furniture, nondescript containers and layers of fabric = visually, a precarious collage.

Higgledy-piggledy.

Impossible to even guess which country we’re in – could be anywhere. Not important.

What has drawn my eye, inexplicably – is this: two yellow shapes fixed to the back. Don’t think I could say with any certainty what they actually are.

They look like two dabs of cadmium yellow paint. One a bit bigger than the other.

Brill – just what I’ve been looking for. Not that I knew it when I started perusing photos online. Checking out pictures taken with phones of places I’d never visited by people I’d never meet. Just the ticket.

I’ve been working on a canvas and continually getting stuck.

I can tell it shows some promise but it keeps baffling me. Stopping me.

Plant forms. Is it underwater? What would happen if I stain the top bit magenta?

Or put a line over here? Projecting myself into the future. To try to resolve it. Without success unfortunately. Still something missing.

Then, seemingly at random a solution appears to have arisen.
